Summer thrifting!

Hello! Thanks for stopping by, I love visitors, followers and your lovely comments! I would have to say my favorite hobby would be thrifting! How great is it when you can furnish/ decorate your home for a fraction of the cost or clothe your children! Or yourself! I remember growing up my grandmother saying "waste not want not" or "make it do or do without" she was very frugal! She grew up during the depression, so I understand! One of my favorite childhood memories is tag saling with my mother! I remember really enjoying the time we spent together treasure hunting!

Here are some treasures I'd like to share that I've actually found with my little lovebugs!

How cute is this vintage dustpan and brush!

How about this sweet kitty washing and this little duckling!

Vintage chick measuring cups which need a good delicate washing!

Linens (vintage) are a favorite of mine!
Vintage Christmas Elfs!

How unique is this lil mood barometer?
I did make it to the Brimfield antique and flea market!
Here is my beautiful family!

Saturday morning finds!

Hello!

I have been grinning all day! I had the pleasure of my husband Gavin accompanying me this morning to tag sales! I generally tag by myself or with my sister, but today it was me and Gavin. We hit the first tag sale, and WOW it was a good one! I found some amazing vintage items! I'm lucky Gavin was with me because I didn't have enough money. I generally bring $20, which is usually enough. I'd have to say this tag sale is the best of the year! So let's get right to the pictures!
BEAUTY!

I bought this piece from an older woman (70's) and she told me that her mother had passed it down to her. I love the age it has. The material looks like a linen of some sort. It has some embroidery and the coloring almost looks like it was painted? It is labeled W. Va. early 1900's.

How sweet!

Lovely!

I just love the vintage image. So sweet! I love this piece and it was such a bargain 50 cents!

This cookbook is awesome with sweet vintage images and copyright 1953.

This pair of little doll bonnets were made for this women's mother by her mother.
It reads circa 1910 Doll Bonnets $5.00 pr. It also reads These articles crocheted for Ruth by her Grandmother Broke.

What a great tag sale, I'm going to browse through my new vintage cookbook!
Happy Weekend! Stay cool!

Thrifty Finds!

Hello!

Here are a few things I've picked up over the past two weekends! The weekend of the 18th, I went to my  favorite annual Tag Sale/Fair! I remember going as a child to this amazing Church fair which is always held in June! It always brings a smile to my face! At this sale I found a beautiful, vintage pale blue tablecloth! It was also spotless, I had to have it! I found a Holly Hobby plate! I picked up a really cute pale yellow plate, it shows it's age but I think its perfect for displaying something yummy!

The following weekend I didn't make it to any tag sales, but I stopped at a Thrift Store that I hadn't been to in over a year. Wow! It was bigger and better! They have everything. I found two matching vintage teal zippers that I plan to use for pillow covers. I also picked up a sweet little blue and red vase. The last thing is a cute little planter that will be perfect in nursery in come time.
Happy Resting!

My first Treasure!

Hello!

This was my first find last summer! It was at a tag sale sitting all by itself. It had no price. I was admiring it! I saw the beauty it had! I asked the man what he wanted for the dresser. He said $5.00! I said "I'll take it". I thought to myself what a bargain! It was just up the street from my house, and I had to go get my husbands pick-up truck. I told the man I'd be back in 5 minutes to pick up my new treasure!

Isn't it a beauty! I sanded it. I put a primer on it. I painted it Be Mine (a pretty pale pink). My mom bought the beautiful knobs for the second hand beauty! Here it is in my bedroom!

Not to shabby for my first piece!
Goodnite!

Weekend Finds!

Hello!

I tend to get excited for tag sales around Wednesday which is rather sad! I think it's okay though! ;) So I begin checking Wednesday and Thursday evening for upcoming sales. I've noticed in CT people tend to have tag sales Friday and Saturday rather than Saturday and Sunday! I don't blame them Sunday is a good rest day! I enjoy tag sales on Friday during my lunch break! Friday evening is when I plan my route for Saturday morning! I love to sleep in whenever I get the chance so I used to go when I woke up in the morning 10 or 11. Although this year I've gotten up early and wow is it worth it! The early bird catches the worm.

On my lunch break Friday this is
what I found.

The sweet just married couple.
I also picked up 2 pink pillows
that were in amazing shape.
I plan on making covers for
them and putting them on my
wicker love seat.

I woke up late Saturday morning due to a light rain! Around 11 or so I went to a few tag sales not to much luck. Later in the afternoon I did go to our local Salvation Army where I have had good luck! I bought  the cute green vintage car planter. It was marked 1.99 with a pink sticker and when I was cashing out I realized the pink sticker are 50% off, Yeah was I happy. I also picked up this vintage mirror, I think its very unique! A vintage baby blanket and holiday plate/bowl for candy etc. To me it looked vintage but its really from 2004, I like it, so I'll put it with my holiday things. Going to Salvation Army turned out to be good in my book considering the weather was crummy!

Talk soon ~Carly

Amazing find!

Hi!
Last summer, my sister and I are on our way to my favorite Flea Market in New York "Stormville" and of course we see tons of signs for tag sales on our way, so we decided to stop at this particular one. Were we ever happy! It was packed with amazing vintage items including furniture! Yeah!!
We're loving the beautiful pieces that had belong to this womens great aunt. We were very interested, my sister ended up buying 2 bureaus, 1 with a mirror and a vanity and mirror. I bought 2 dining pieces. The women gave the 5 pieces for $300.00! Such a steal, she could see our love for them and was so happy they were'nt going to dealers.( no offence to dealers) So here are pics of my purchases!
The Stormville Flea Market is this weekend Sat.&Sun., Me and my sister are leaving my house 7am Sunday morning!
