Thrifty Finds!

Hello!

Here are a few things I've picked up over the past two weekends! The weekend of the 18th, I went to my  favorite annual Tag Sale/Fair! I remember going as a child to this amazing Church fair which is always held in June! It always brings a smile to my face! At this sale I found a beautiful, vintage pale blue tablecloth! It was also spotless, I had to have it! I found a Holly Hobby plate! I picked up a really cute pale yellow plate, it shows it's age but I think its perfect for displaying something yummy!

The following weekend I didn't make it to any tag sales, but I stopped at a Thrift Store that I hadn't been to in over a year. Wow! It was bigger and better! They have everything. I found two matching vintage teal zippers that I plan to use for pillow covers. I also picked up a sweet little blue and red vase. The last thing is a cute little planter that will be perfect in nursery in come time.
Happy Resting!

Norman Rockwell

Hi
The workweek is complete! Today on my lunch break I went to an unexpected Estate Sale! Yeah! I was actually late getting back to work but at an estate sale you really need to pick and peek everywhere! Either way I felt a little rushed but thats okay. I did find a Norman Rockwell 50 favorites copyright 1978! It's in great condition, I was thrilled to pay $4 for it! I would have to say he is a favorite of mine! I think one of the things I like about him is that I can relate to his work in stories I've been told by my mother and grandmother. I also like is every day real life work. It's so real to me! Over the past few years I've picked up a few of his books, a calender, a plate and some amazing placemats. All second-hand of course. Ha Ha, its the way to go. Especially because I love the hunt! I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I do!

Goodnight.
Carly

One thing I forgot to say is how amazing I think it would be to live in the 1950's or 60's for a day. Things were so different back then. I'm glad I have family and friends stories and pictures to share! :)

Summertime!

Hello!

Glad to be blogging, it's been a week. Time flies! So Happy First Day of Summer! Yeah! I do enjoy the summer. I just finished my evening walk around the neighborhood and wow the sun setting was so beautiful! The sun was hot almost neon orange! I'm am bringing my camera tomorrow. There are so many things I see on my walk that I'd like pictures of! The sunset, numerous colors of flowers big and small and a aqua 1980's van! Oh how I hope its there tomorrow! I'd love to share it beauty with you!

The upper area of my neighborhood has garbage night and oh the things I past by ,a vintage wicker chair that was in pretty bad shape and a old wheel barrow that I couldn't convince my husband to help me pick up. The thing is I now I have projects taking up garage and basement space that Gavin isn't that fond of. So it's okay someone else will hopefully find it!

Guess what? I was outside on the phone covering the grill stepping onto the porch when I do a double take to see a skunk! Yes a skunk, I have never seen one so close. I quietly scream for Gavin to come and see as I search for my camera. Hopefully I can share the skunk pic with you.
The pic will be prettier next blog!

My first Treasure!

Hello!

This was my first find last summer! It was at a tag sale sitting all by itself. It had no price. I was admiring it! I saw the beauty it had! I asked the man what he wanted for the dresser. He said $5.00! I said "I'll take it". I thought to myself what a bargain! It was just up the street from my house, and I had to go get my husbands pick-up truck. I told the man I'd be back in 5 minutes to pick up my new treasure!

Isn't it a beauty! I sanded it. I put a primer on it. I painted it Be Mine (a pretty pale pink). My mom bought the beautiful knobs for the second hand beauty! Here it is in my bedroom!

Not to shabby for my first piece!
Goodnite!

Weekend Finds!

Hello!

I tend to get excited for tag sales around Wednesday which is rather sad! I think it's okay though! ;) So I begin checking Wednesday and Thursday evening for upcoming sales. I've noticed in CT people tend to have tag sales Friday and Saturday rather than Saturday and Sunday! I don't blame them Sunday is a good rest day! I enjoy tag sales on Friday during my lunch break! Friday evening is when I plan my route for Saturday morning! I love to sleep in whenever I get the chance so I used to go when I woke up in the morning 10 or 11. Although this year I've gotten up early and wow is it worth it! The early bird catches the worm.

On my lunch break Friday this is
what I found.

The sweet just married couple.
I also picked up 2 pink pillows
that were in amazing shape.
I plan on making covers for
them and putting them on my
wicker love seat.

I woke up late Saturday morning due to a light rain! Around 11 or so I went to a few tag sales not to much luck. Later in the afternoon I did go to our local Salvation Army where I have had good luck! I bought  the cute green vintage car planter. It was marked 1.99 with a pink sticker and when I was cashing out I realized the pink sticker are 50% off, Yeah was I happy. I also picked up this vintage mirror, I think its very unique! A vintage baby blanket and holiday plate/bowl for candy etc. To me it looked vintage but its really from 2004, I like it, so I'll put it with my holiday things. Going to Salvation Army turned out to be good in my book considering the weather was crummy!

Hubby's Birthday!

Hello!

I feel like what do I have to talk about? Well Tuesday, June 7th was my husbands birthday! After work I made him a special dinner, Smokey Mountian Chicken which was my absolute favorite at Ruby Tuesdays! Wierd but they toke it off the menu a while ago. I found it on the web of course. It's chicken breast seasoned with salt and pepper, bbq sauce, bacon and montery jack cheese. Its really yummy!  After dinner I made cupcakes which were a hit! I did take a pic of them and I'm trying to post the pic.

We've been together for a little over 10 years and since I can remember we have Birthday week for each other. Were we give an extra back rub, feed the bird for the week instead of taking turns, just a little sweeter. It's fun! So I'm ready to put my feet up and watch a movie! I did find some special things so I'm looking forward to posting them soon!

Happy resting!

One of my favorite places!

Hello,
I'm winding down from a busy day! My Aunt Kathy and I planned to take my Gramma to Milford probably one of her favorite places. Silver Sands Beach in Milford is a very special place to my family. We've been rented a beach house there every since I can remember! My husband and I were married on the ocean in Milford 4 years in August. So we love it there!

So this morning I woke up to a beautiful, pleasant sunny day and  met my Aunt Kathy at Gramma's house. We arrive in Milford and stop at a White Elephant sale near the town green. I picked up a Norman Rockwell book! I love his prints. At the beach we have a beautiful walk on the new boardwalk. We later enjoy lunch at Wendy's, another favorite of ours. Chili and frosty's and of course the chicken nuggets. Today I had the new Berry Almond Chicken Salad which was very yummy! I have a few pics I'd like to share with you.

We couldn't have asked for a better day!

How Fun!

Later my husband Gavin and I had a BBQ, burgers, dogs and potato salad! I also did some planting!

Happy Resting,
Carly

Weekend finds, Yeah!

Hello!

I've been waiting to do this for a while. I love to see what other people find on the weekend hunt! Now I have a blog and I can participate! I've been a collector for quite some time. I guess you could say I started as a teen with 80's toys. Although I really was taught to thrift. Lots of my clothing was second hand. I grew with my very frugal gramma! I've learned alot from her. As a young child I would tag sale with my mother on Saturday mornings and when my sister came along she began to come too. I really enjoyed even at such a young age. I loved finding clothing and toys of course. Its a great pastime memory I have with my mother! I remember children's clothes were usually 25cents a piece.

Today and for the past couple of years I love tag sales, estate sales, flea markets, rummage sales and thrift stores. I look for linens, especially vintage shabby chic items, books, clothing. Colors attract me pink, aqua ,yellow light blue.  I <3 Holly Hobbie, Pepsi and plants. I am a new Beatrix Potter collector. It turns out my mother had similar interests. So enough about me, I can't wait to post these new pics!

These awesome finds are from Saturday, my first sale. An estate sale from an adorable home. Looked like a small cottage. All of these items cost $10 with a blue vintage hat box and some free vintage wrapping paper!
