My First Sewing Project!

Hello,

I'm so excited to share my first sewing project that is almost complete. I have been very lucky to have my mother help me with this, I would have been lost! It was fun working with her!
I had picked up this beautiful sewing machine early summer, I was so excited about learning to sew! It's taken me this long to have something to show, but I'm ready! I look forward to many more projects especially with the holidays coming! Who doesn't want a personal homemade gift? I know I do! You just know their from the heart! So here we go!

I wish I had more pics from the start, I'll know next time!
This amazing vintage material, I bought at an estate sale and I have been saving forever! I think it's just beautiful! I was hard cutting it! I do think this was the perfect project! I do want to be able to use and show it off!
So excited! Rewarding too!

This is Gavin and my back porch!

Happy Sunday!

Norman Rockwell

Hi
The workweek is complete! Today on my lunch break I went to an unexpected Estate Sale! Yeah! I was actually late getting back to work but at an estate sale you really need to pick and peek everywhere! Either way I felt a little rushed but thats okay. I did find a Norman Rockwell 50 favorites copyright 1978! It's in great condition, I was thrilled to pay $4 for it! I would have to say he is a favorite of mine! I think one of the things I like about him is that I can relate to his work in stories I've been told by my mother and grandmother. I also like is every day real life work. It's so real to me! Over the past few years I've picked up a few of his books, a calender, a plate and some amazing placemats. All second-hand of course. Ha Ha, its the way to go. Especially because I love the hunt! I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I do!

Goodnight.
Carly

One of the placemats, how sweet!

One thing I forgot to say is how amazing I think it would be to live in the 1950's or 60's for a day. Things were so different back then. I'm glad I have family and friends stories and pictures to share! :)

Weekend finds, Yeah!

Hello!

I've been waiting to do this for a while. I love to see what other people find on the weekend hunt! Now I have a blog and I can participate! I've been a collector for quite some time. I guess you could say I started as a teen with 80's toys. Although I really was taught to thrift. Lots of my clothing was second hand. I grew with my very frugal gramma! I've learned alot from her. As a young child I would tag sale with my mother on Saturday mornings and when my sister came along she began to come too. I really enjoyed even at such a young age. I loved finding clothing and toys of course. Its a great pastime memory I have with my mother! I remember children's clothes were usually 25cents a piece.

Today and for the past couple of years I love tag sales, estate sales, flea markets, rummage sales and thrift stores. I look for linens, especially vintage shabby chic items, books, clothing. Colors attract me pink, aqua ,yellow light blue.  I <3 Holly Hobbie, Pepsi and plants. I am a new Beatrix Potter collector. It turns out my mother had similar interests. So enough about me, I can't wait to post these new pics!

These awesome finds are from Saturday, my first sale. An estate sale from an adorable home. Looked like a small cottage. All of these items cost $10 with a blue vintage hat box and some free vintage wrapping paper!
